About Multi-Factor Authentication

Iru enforces Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for all users who sign into an Iru tenant using an email and password combination. This MFA requirement doesn’t affect users who authenticate via Google, Office 365, or an SSO Connection.

How It Works

Iru requires MFA for standard authentication to enhance security. When you sign in with email and password, you’ll need to provide a second authentication factor using a Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) application.

How to Register an MFA Application

Learn how to register an MFA Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) application to your account. Currently, you may only register one TOTP application per user account.
1

Log In to Iru Endpoint

Navigate to your Iru tenant and click Log In, then log in using your Email address and Password.
2

Scan QR Code

After authenticating, you’ll see a prompt to scan the registration QR code using a password app that supports TOTP. Any TOTP application will work, such as Apple Passwords (built-in for iOS and iPadOS), Google Authenticator, and many others. Scan the barcode and complete the setup within your TOTP application.
3

Enter TOTP Code

Enter the TOTP code shown in your application and click Continue.
4

Save Recovery Code

Copy your Recovery Code. After configuring your TOTP application, you’ll be given a recovery code to regain access to your account if you lose access to it. If you lose access to your TOTP application and recovery code, please contact Iru Support.
5

Complete Registration

Click the “I have safely recorded this code” checkbox and click Continue.
MFA registration is now complete. The next time you sign into Iru, you’ll see an MFA prompt similar to the following:

How to Manage MFA Applications

Learn how to delete and manage your registered MFA application. If you authenticate via Google, Office 365, or an SSO Connection, the Multi-Factor Authentication section won’t be available. You’ll need to log out and log in using the email address and password fields.
1

Access Your Profile

Log in to your Iru tenant and click your name in the lower-left corner, then click My Profile.
2

Navigate to MFA Settings

Click the Multi-Factor Authentication tab.
3

Delete MFA Application

Click on the ellipsis and then click Delete. Upon your next login, you’ll be required to register a new one.
