About Removing App Store Apps from the Library

You can remove App Store app Library Items from the Library when no licenses are assigned to the Apps and Books token in Apple Business or Apple School Manager for your Iru Endpoint tenant. First clear those licenses in the portal, then remove the app from the Iru Endpoint Library.

Remove the app in Apple Business or Apple School Manager

Clear the licenses on the content token for your Iru Endpoint tenant. In Apple Business, you can then remove a free app from the library. Then remove the app from the Iru Endpoint Library.

Sign in to Apple Business or Apple School Manager

Sign in to Apple Business or Apple School Manager with a Managed Apple Account that can manage Apps and Books.

Open the Library

In Apple Business or Apple School Manager, open the library and select the app. The pages are in different places.In Apple Business, select Apps & Services, then Apps & Books, then Library. You can also open this page by selecting Manage or Manage Licenses on the App Store page. Select the app, then select Edit next to Organizational Units and clear the organizational unit for your Iru Endpoint content token.

For a paid app, select Reduce next to that organizational unit, enter how many unassigned licenses to remove, then select Remove. Licenses still assigned to devices stay in place. In Iru Endpoint, remove the app from its Blueprints first. See Removing Apps and Books Licenses. For a free app, select Remove from Library at the bottom of the page, then select Remove. A paid app stays in the library after its unassigned licenses are reduced.In Apple School Manager, select Apps and Books in the sidebar, then select Library. Select the app, then select Transfer next to the location for your content token. Move the unassigned licenses to another location. See Transfer licenses to another location in Apple School Manager.

Removing an App Store app from the Library

After you have unassigned licenses in Apple Business or Apple School Manager, remove the app from your Iru Endpoint Library.

Access your Iru Endpoint tenant

Open your Iru Endpoint tenant in a web browser and sign in if needed.

Open the Library

Select Library from the left navigation.

Sync App Store apps

Select the Sync App Store Apps button near the top right of the page.

Find the app

Search for the app you want to remove from the Library.

Open the app menu

Select the ellipsis on the app tile.

Remove the app

Choose Delete from the menu.

If the Delete option is not available, check back later and select Sync App Store Apps again. If you still don’t see it, open Apple Business or Apple School Manager. Confirm that no licenses for that app are assigned to the organizational unit used for your Iru Endpoint tenant’s Apps and Books token.
