This guide applies to Windows computers
This guide walks you through enrolling your Windows computer without an Enrollment Portal link or Enrollment code. Your IT team uses one of two paths:
  • Windows Autopilot: enrollment happens during first-time Windows setup.
  • Settings or Microsoft Edge: you add a work or school account on a computer that is already set up.
Windows management uses Microsoft’s MDM framework combined with the Iru Agent for app management and inventory. If your IT team gave you an Enrollment Portal link and Enrollment code, use User Experience with Manual Windows Enrollment instead.

What to Expect

When you enroll your Windows computer, it connects to your organization’s management system through Microsoft’s MDM framework. The Iru Agent is installed to handle application management. This allows your IT team to:
  • Deploy, upgrade, and uninstall company applications and software
  • Apply security policies and settings
  • Configure network access (Wi-Fi, VPN)
  • Monitor device compliance and gather application inventory
Enrollment does not change your personal files. After the computer is enrolled, your IT team can erase it remotely. A remote erase removes all user data and apps.

Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure you have:
  • The work or school account your IT team told you to use
  • Local administrator rights on the computer, if you enroll from Settings or Microsoft Edge
You need local administrator rights to enroll from Settings or Microsoft Edge. If you don’t have these rights, contact your IT team.

Enroll during Windows setup

Use this path when the computer is new or has just been reset, and your IT team set it up with Windows Autopilot.
1

Start Windows setup

Turn on the computer and follow the on-screen Windows setup until you are asked to sign in.
2

Sign in with your work or school account

Sign in with the work or school account your IT team gave you. Use the same email and password you use for work.
3

Accept the Terms of Use

If the Iru Terms of Use appears, select Accept and Continue.
4

Wait for setup to finish

Windows finishes setup and enrolls the computer. You do not enter an Enrollment code.
If setup never asks you to sign in with a work or school account, contact your IT team. They may ask you to enroll from Settings or Microsoft Edge instead.

Enroll from Settings

Use this path when the computer is already set up and your IT team asked you to add a work or school account from Settings.

In Microsoft Edge, select the profile icon.
2

After Enrollment

Once enrollment is complete:
  • Company applications begin installing via the Iru Agent (about every 15 minutes for ongoing app work)
  • Security policies and network settings (Wi-Fi, VPN) are applied through Microsoft’s MDM framework. New admin settings generally apply within a couple of minutes; local changes are corrected about every 24 hours
It may take several minutes for all company applications and settings to appear on your device. If something doesn’t appear immediately, wait a few more minutes and check again.
