# Licensing the Microsoft Defender Auto App

> License and activate the Microsoft Defender Auto App on Mac using Iru Endpoint. Deploy the onboarding package and configure Defender for Endpoint settings.

### Prerequisites

* Add the Microsoft Defender [Auto App](/en/endpoint/library/auto-apps/auto-apps-overview) to your Library

### Download the Defender Onboarding Package

<Steps>
  <Step title="Log in to Defender Portal">
    Log in to your Defender portal.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Navigate to Onboarding Settings">
    Navigate to **Settings > Endpoints > Onboarding**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select macOS Operating System">
    Select **macOS** as the operating system.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select Deployment Method">
    Select **Mobile Device Management** as the deployment method.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Download Onboarding Package">
    Select Download onboarding package (WindowsDefenderATPOnboardingPackage.zip).
  </Step>

### Prepare the Onboarding Package

<Steps>
  <Step title="Extract the Package">
    Extract WindowsDefenderATPOnboardingPackage.zip you downloaded.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Locate the Configuration File">
    Locate the WindowsDefenderATPOnboarding.plist downloaded as part of your Onboarding Package.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Change File Extension">
    Change file extension from .plist to .mobileconfig.
  </Step>

### Add a Custom Profile

To add this Library Item to your Iru Endpoint Library, follow the steps outlined in the [Library Overview](/en/endpoint/library/library-items-profiles/library-overview) article.

  <Step title="Name the Custom Profile">
    Give the new Custom Profile a descriptive name.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Assign to Blueprints or Assignment Maps">
    Assign to your desired [Assignment Maps](/en/endpoint/getting-started/blueprints-and-library/configuring-blueprints).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Upload Configuration File">
    **Upload** the WindowsDefenderATPOnboarding.mobileconfig you created earlier.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save Configuration">
    Click **Save** to complete the Custom Profile setup.
